Grouchy Bride?

Boy was I grouchy today!  I don’t mean just a little on edge.  I was a beast!  Everything the kids did today got on my nerves.  I was so grouchy I actually ran the out of the kitchen as they were helping me wash dishes.

The worst part about it was that I knew I was being unbearable, but I just couldn’t stop myself.  I would apologize for snapping at them then turn around and do it again not 5 minutes later.  Finally I sat down to pray and find out why I was such a crab.

As I laid out my heart before the Lord, He gently told me what the problem was—I was missing Him.  My nights are late with working, so I have been so tired I sleep late and haven’t had time to really enjoy His presence.

What about you?

Have your wedding plans taken time out of your schedule that had been reserved for your Savior?  Are you neglecting Him too in your rush to get things done?  Are you spending more and more time with your fiancé but less and less with the true Lover of Your Soul?

If so, you are not alone.  It happens to most Christian brides at one time or another.  While it may not be unusual, it is damaging nonetheless.  If you allow the neglect to continue, you will find yourself in the same boat I was.  You will be short and grouchy with the people you love the most.

So take some time today to reconnect with Jesus.  Sit at His feet and rest in Him.  Sing songs of adoration to Him.  Re-read your favorite passages of Scripture.

To do this you may have to cut short the time you spend with your fiancé.  But I think he would rather spend a little time with the calm, sweet woman he fell in love with than a lot of time with Oscar the Grouch.
